Announcing…

I’m still here!  I haven’t been sewing hardly at all for the last couple of weeks, but I did manage to crochet a lovely bag that I listed at RetroFemme last week:

As to the reason I’ve been under the weather and not sewing much, it’s nothing too surprising for us.  A pretty regular occurance around here.  We are expecting a new baby!, around the middle of November, if all goes as we hope and pray it will.  This makes baby number six for us and we are just as happy and excited as we were when our first was on the way.

Though I will say, I was a little more excited when I wasn’t suffering from round the clock “morning” sickness and then a bad cold on top of it! 

I do have sewing plans for this week.  A custom bag from the Joel Dewberry Sparrows line.  An apron from Katie Jump Rope.  A dress for my oldest daughter.   Listing a few more things at Etsy.  Hoping I can keep the saltine cracker crumbs off the fabric.

And a little giveaway on Thursday for my birthday.  Check back for more details tomorrow.

They’re done and that’s what counts

I’ve had a couple of “those” days this week.  It’s been a huge challenge to find the time and energy to sew.  But I did manage to finish and list the two aprons at Retro Femme for tonight’s stocking at 10 PM EDT.

The sewing wasn’t so hard, actually, but the picture taking was torture.  My camera batteries were low and I couldn’t find the spare set.  The sun kept hiding behind clouds.  I couldn’t get the exposure and colors “just right” for the black apron.  Finally, when I felt like the next thing I’d do would be to throw my camera through a window (okay, not really, but you know what I mean), I stopped and listed them anyway, icky pictures and all.  Hopefully, their true loveliness will show through, because they turned out just how I imagined them.  How cool is that!!

    

I’d thought about trying to pull something else together for tonight’s stocking, but it just isn’t going to happen.  It’s Easter weekend, I don’t have the eggs ready for the hunt tomorrow, the house is, well, a mess, dishes are waiting, and I have several custom orders to work on for next week. 

Whenever I can find a few minutes during the day, I’ll be listing the hairsticks at Etsy.  That will catch me up for my goal of listing 10 items at Etsy this week.

Wednesday’s Etsy stuff & a sneak peek WIP

It’s 11:35 PM, still Wednesday here.  It was a long day.  Thank the Lord its almost over.

And many many thanks to my dear friend who was kind enough to be my first Etsy buyer.  Still plenty for the rest of you.

I’m working on a couple of aprons for Friday’s Retro Femme stocking.  I saw this uber cute coffee cup fabric at the quilt shop and bought a small bit.  I just think these cups are so fun:

There are 8? different cups.  This chai tea latte is gracing a black twill square chef’s style apron.  It will have long skinny ties that can wrap all around to the front…the waistband & ties will be the same blue dots and the pocket border and the hem.

This cup is french vanilla latte, and I thought that bright yellow dots, a ruffle and a black waistband and ties would suit it perfectly.

The pictures aren’t great, it’s very dark in my sewing room at night, but hopefully they are good enough to show where I’m going. 

Another item I’m getting ready to list is a lovely afghan my mom crocheted.  I always thought she didn’t like to crochet…I was wrong, she simply prefers to knit, you see.  This afghan is 6 18″ square blocks with what my mom called a pinapple motif.  She used Red Heart yarn, which gets so nice and soft after a few washings, but is still sturdy and durable.  The blocks are cream and the border is dark chocolate brown.  I need to block it and get some good pictures of it before I can list it. 

Well, folks, that’s all for tonight.  It’s after midnight now, and we busy moms need every minute of sleep we can get, right?  Plus, the sooner I go to bed, the sooner morning will come and we will all find out who won the Katie Jump Rope Quilt!!  Please let it be me!!

Tuesday’s Etsy listings & Unsubscribe day

I had two goals today:  list two more items at Etsy and unsubscribe from most of the “I was interested once, but that day is long gone” emails I received each day.  And I did both.

I also spent time today researching a unit study on the 50 states for our homeschool, mailing out several packages of fabric I sold yesterday, and compiling a list of fabrics I’ve reserved through a co-op.  That list is a wee bit longer than I thought, so I really hope this daily Etsy listing thing works.

Tomorrow I’ll get started and hopefully mostly finished with this week’s RetroFemme listings.  A bag and two aprons.  If you like coffee, you’ll want to see what I’m planning…check back tomorrow evening.

Someday…a buyer will come…

My daughters were watching some princess or another movie yesterday…the one with the “some day my prince will come” song.  Was it Cinderella?  Anyway, my thought was “someday, my first etsy buyer will come”. 

In an effort to attract that buyer, I am focusing on getting more items stocked into my Etsy store this week.  My goal is two items a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Today I put up these two:

    

Tomorrow I will add two more from my backstock (what a nice way to say “things I made but haven’t sold yet”).  I might also make some more coasters and hairsticks.

Tonight, though, I’m going to try to finish a skirt for me I started yesterday.  It just needs the waistband and hem done.

I spent most of my day climbing Mt. Laundry.  With 7 people in our family, that mountain is ever present and my goal is simply to be on top of it rather than buried underneath.  Or as my dear hubby says:  as long as I have clean undies, all is good.
