Design Decisions

I’ve been comissioned to make a custom bag from the Joel Dewberry Sparrows line.  The customer wants a bag that is a rectangle…the side would be about 9″ tall and 14″ wide.  I’ve been tinkering around with a few ideas and come up with these:

First off, showcasing the sparrow print with a center square on-point, with brown sunburst diamonds at each corner, with orange sunburst as the side panels.

Next, two variations on the same theme of wide stripes, one set horizontal, the other vertical, still with the orange sunburst for the side panels:

    

For the lining, it could be either the chocolate or the orange rose pattern, see here next to the sparrows to show scale:

Decisions, decisions…

Meanwhile, I’m finishing up two custom coming & going bags with matching wallets…here a couple quick peeks:

 

I’ll have better pics when I finish the matching wallets in the next day or so.  

 

Manly Aprons for Dad

Yes, my second finished object post today!  woohoo!  First the circangle bag, now a couple of (hopefully) manly aprons for Retro Femme’s Father’s Day stocking tonight.

I tried to choose a print that could be worn by either a man or a woman.  Keeping that in mind, I stayed away from the sports themes and muscle cars.  I drafted my own pattern for this apron, based roughly on what would fit my 6’2″ hubby.  I’d hoped to have him model these for me, but I didn’t get them done before he went to work today.  So the backside of my dress form will have to do.

         

Pretty neat, eh?  I wouldn’t mind wearing one of these and my hubby…well, he didn’t express a definite opinion in the affirmative…but he didn’t say “no” either.

I hope to have one more thing to show before the end of the day, a custom coming & going bag using the Ginger Blossom line of fabrics.  It just needs a couple of things finished up before it’s picture ready.

An Etsy Treasury & Street Team

Someday…a buyer will come…

My daughters were watching some princess or another movie yesterday…the one with the “some day my prince will come” song.  Was it Cinderella?  Anyway, my thought was “someday, my first etsy buyer will come”. 

In an effort to attract that buyer, I am focusing on getting more items stocked into my Etsy store this week.  My goal is two items a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Today I put up these two:

    

Tomorrow I will add two more from my backstock (what a nice way to say “things I made but haven’t sold yet”).  I might also make some more coasters and hairsticks.

Tonight, though, I’m going to try to finish a skirt for me I started yesterday.  It just needs the waistband and hem done.

I spent most of my day climbing Mt. Laundry.  With 7 people in our family, that mountain is ever present and my goal is simply to be on top of it rather than buried underneath.  Or as my dear hubby says:  as long as I have clean undies, all is good.
